Avoiding the Puddle Episode #9 + Short Harada Interview

October 5, 2010

This past weekend was quite eventful with WCG Finals 2010 happening right here in Los Angeles; players from all over the world came for the final event. Aris and MYK were fortunate enough to be able to get some games in, footage, etc. In this episode Aris and MYK briefly go over MYK’s new sponsor over at BLGaming.com, the WCG weekend, an elaborate discussion on how the tier list works in Tekken, and more!

For any suggestions on topics you guys would like Aris and MYK to cover, send them to:

    Hey Aris,

When you were in Japan you and your crew grabbed tons of Tekken frame booklets. Do you think you can scan those layouts and put them online for us. I would really like to read the frame data’s they put up and see the booklets you got.

Maybe MYK has one too and can scan some….

We didnt take home any frame booklets. I got the “perfect guide” but it is a joke really. nothing very usefull and very limited frame data.

Aris I was referring too your video “Play City Carrot in Sugamo Japan” the part 3.23 in the video when your at the Kiosk machine with all the free stuff under it you all grabbed.

Was wondering was anything useful in the information they gave out free. If so could those be scanned. Someone mentioned frame data which is why I assumed thats what they were.

I know japan and korea have like these tekken magazines that we dont get over here just wondering was that one of them or if we had a way to get some of them scanned in.

That stuff was nothing really. We didnt even take any. Just Tekken.net adds.

@ Aris I see your taking a liking to AK and Feng. Do you think they will be strong enough to replace your Drag in main tournements?

Concerning Aris’ tier list system, I think ‘useful moves’ covers too much ground compared to the others. Counter hit launchers, hell sweeps, good strings, Bob’s belly… these are all quite different types of moves and it seems crude to lump them all together. IMO, it would be better to split them up into further categories like mixups, safe moves (jabs/belly etc.), keep out… whatever. Just a thought.

sup its me again omm i wanna ask you who you think is the coolest character in tekken by looks i know it dosent matter when it comes to the fighting but you know…….

It’s very difficult to sort through all the dumbshits that don’t know what they’re talking about and find someone who’s opinion actually matters, and that can back it up with real facts, but you guys do just that on the regular, so thanks.. But, you have said on several occasions that Yoshimitsu sucks, and that’s it, nothing else, he just “sucks”. I know you have said you used to play Yoshi, so why the vague hatrid? We all know he got a nerfing in T6BR, so what I would like to know is, where do you think his glaring issues are, and what could be done to make him not “suck”?

List of all of the music that’s played for every podcast anyone?

    I like episode 8’s carnival-esque thing. metal \m/

I love how Aris wants to bash Smash Bros but it’s at MLG right along side T6 BR.

    • October 29, 2010 10:22 am

Smash is at MLG I’m sure because so many people come out to play it in tournament, but that game is still a hot mess and boring to watch since the fun stuff is banned in competitive play. I was almost knocked out watching the finals for it at Devastation.

But when’s the next podcast coming? I been fiending for a new episode. And if you have a moment to talk about Soul Calibur 2 in the next podcast, I would like to hear about it since I wasn’t around during those days. It’s interesting that the people who are around now in competitive fighting games came from SC2 at one point or another.
